Atlantic Maker Market

The Atlantic Maker Market is designed to support craft artists and makers in Atlantic Canada through markets. The need to create its own brand in the market arose to help the PEI craft community stand out from all the major craft fairs and get a unique voice and style.

Challenge

Etsy Team PEI wanted to rebrand to the Atlantic Maker Market PEI and Etsy Halifax to the Atlantic Maker Market NS to create one maker community with two branches, PEI and NS. The idea was to attract all Atlantic Canadian producers with an online presence. The brand should represent diverse craft art and look professional and modern.

Idea

We wanted to capture the essence of the Atlantic Maker Market uniquely and meaningfully. The soft colours, inspired by the pot clay and the iconic red PEI soil, blend seamlessly with the ocean's deep blue, creating a modern and stylish visual palette. The incorporation of quirky waves to evoke stylized fingerprint graphics was a symbolic element to represent the individuality and uniqueness of each artisan. The Atlantic Maker Market logo is a testament to the remarkable creativity of the artisans on Prince Edward Island.

The font chosen is minimalist, contributing to the simplicity of the design while ensuring readability. The Atlantic Maker Market logo is both memorable and authentic, capturing the spirit of the craft market and its connection to the rich artistic landscape of PEI.

Results

We created a brand identity, including a corporate style guide, which describes corporate colours, fonts and rules for using the logo in various styles and formats. The minimalist brand design symbolizes the individual mark of uniqueness that each artisan brings to the Atlantic Maker Market. The fingerprint waves not only add a touch of playfulness but also reinforce the idea that every creation at the market is a distinctive work of art.
